Celebrating Success at our third Postcard Auction and thanking those who made it possible

The time since the postcard auction has seemed a bit of a blur, was it really three weeks ago? We all had an amazing time and, more importantly, raised some much-needed money to support people who need the expert services that we offer. There was a real community spirit as local artists, businesses, and volunteers enjoyed the warm September weather - it seemed like a real end of summer blowout.

I'm ecstatic to announce that the auction made a whopping £6, 500, funds that are essential for continuing to run our local services.

Oasis Fundraising Manager Loukia Michael said, “This is a phenomenal result and the money raised will have a direct impact on those we help in the local community."

This simply would not have been possible without the support we were given, so an honour list is very much in order.

The Honours List

Auctioneers and MCs -

At the helm were auctioneers Frank Thorley and Kent University Lecturer Will Wollen, formerly of the Theatre Royal, as well as Barbara Sturgeon who once again acted as an MC for Oasis.

The Artists

There's no art auction without the art!

Contributing to the total were pieces by local artists Michael Richardson and Anthony Giles, celebrities including Alison Steadman and Dermot O’Leary, former Prime Minister David Cameron, whose piece went under the hammer for £100, and Sir Roger Gale MP.

Supporting Businesses

The support we have received from local businesses such as event sponsors Boys and Maughan and Elgate Products Ltd, Barclays Bank who provided match funding of £3000, and Thorley Taverns, means that every penny raised will be spent on supporting those affected by domestic abuse. And of course our thanks to Christian Tate who has designed the stunning posters for the Postcard Auction three years running, they are always works of art.

The Harbour Arm

Our CEO Deborah Cartwright wanted to extend her special thanks to Fiona Sherriff of Margate Harbour Arm who makes the postcard auction happen every year in support of local good causes.

Our Volunteers

Our volunteers make the world go round - I'm always amazed how generous people are with their skills and their time. It makes such a difference to what we can do as a charity to have this backup with events, our shop and in our offices. Even these photos were provided by a lovely volunteer.
