Maidstone Symphony Orchestra

  • Mote Hall Maidstone Leisure Centre Maidstone ME15 7RN (map)

The Maidstone Symphony Orchestra are performing in aid of Oasis Domestic Abuse Service on Saturday 25th March 2017 at 7.30pm. The performance will feature Amy Harman on bassoon playing

  • Smetana - Overture, The Bartered Bride
  • Mozart- Bassoon Concerto, K.191
  • Berwald - Konsertstycke for bassoon
  • Sibelius - Symphony No. 2

The MSO says: “The bassoon may be the Cinderella of wind instruments, but Amy Harman makes it sing and brings us two splendidly varied examples of her solo art. Mozart’s delightful Concerto is followed by the Swedish composer Franz Berwald’s flamboyant Concert Piece. We start with the Czech bravura of Smetana’s overture, and finish with the splendour of Sibelius’s most popular Symphony, No.2. It’s an epic struggle, particularly the finale, seen by many as epitomising the Finnish people’s cries for freedom.”

At Mote Hall, Maidstone Leisure Centre Maidstone ME15 7RN
