Jump for Joy Challenge

The last year has been really tough for everyone, and with a third lockdown announced it continues to be extremely difficult. Which is why we want to start 2021 by spreading joy and hope with our Jump for Joy challenge!

Covid-19 has made access to routes to safety even harder for those suffering at the hands of a perpetrator, and we’ve been unable to hold fundraising events to generate essential income. Domestic Abuse is a debilitating experience for everybody it affects. With a new lockdown in force, the risk for those experiencing abuse becomes even greater.

At Oasis, our mission is to lead survivors on a positive journey to living a life free from abuse. This starts with safety and continues with programmes to assist with healing and dealing with trauma, building an independent, safe, new life where they can find joy, for themselves and their family.

By Jumping for Joy this January, every £1 you raise will go towards supporting our recovery programmes and important early intervention work, which provides counselling and mentoring for children and young people. Many of our services have had to move online, and your support will ensure that we can continue to reach as many young survivors as possible in Thanet and Dover. We hope it will also bring you some fun and joy to start the new year.

  2. Share with your family, friends, colleagues, community groups, networks -  download and use our social media image below and share your photos with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

  3. Get jumping!

Jump in any way you like for just 5 minutes a day (all at the same time or spread out during the day, doing the same jump or trying different ones):

Up and down on the spot
Star jump
Burpee
On one leg
Jump out of bed (carefully!)
Jump-step-ups
Long jump
Ballet jeté
Hop scotch
Leap
Pike jump
Seat shuffle

Whatever jump you choose, you’ll bring joy to yourself and to survivors. Your fun will become funds in no time and every £ you raise will help our survivors on their journey to a joyful life free from abuse. It’s a simple, short activity that you can do together as your daily or regular exercise, all in the comfort of your own home or garden.

Thank you for Jumping for Oasis

Please jump with care - choose a safe environment to enjoy your jumping, making sure there are no hard objects around you and that you warm up first and only use a style of jumping that you are physically able to do. Please follow the latest government and public health guidelines at all times, ensuring that you only jump alongside those you are permitted to and at a safe social distance.

We know that certain movements aren’t always possible for everyone. Instead, you might consider a gentle, slow arm raise, foot or finger tap, or even blinking.

Save the image below (just right click and ‘save’) and share on your social media to let everyone know you’re taking part and to encourage them to sponsor you.
