Adult services

Oasis supports people - women, men, LGBTQIA+ people - in East Kent, Medway and North Kent who have been affected by domestic abuse.

Our services include refuge and safe accommodation, group programmes, counselling, mentoring and training for professionals.

Independent Domestic Violence Advisors

Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) are specialist support workers that work with the person experiencing abuse to reduce risk and increase safety.

They do this by working with you/the client to produce a practical safety plan, working with other professionals, such as the police, addressing housing needs, and supporting access to criminal and civil justice interventions. They work with high-risk (MARAC) clients and community clients that are not high-risk.

Where

East Kent: outreach support via the Kent Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (KIDAS)

Medway: one-to-one support for all victims and support groups, working with partner agencies to provide holistic support to meet individuals’ needs. A Hospital IDVA (HIDVA) provides crisis interventions, advice, information, support, and onward referrals, working alongside NHS staff at Medway Maritime Hospital.

North Kent: Specialist family support working with the non-abusive parent, offering a scaffold of measures of support where they have suffered historic domestic abuse in Dartford, Gravesham, and Maidstone.

“After all this time it was a relief just to be listened to - to be believed. My IDVA was amazing - she helped me out of a dark place.
